About

Hello, and welcome to my site! I'm Tim, website and graphic designer from Northampton, UK.

Besides designing websites for people, I'm currently studying a part-time degree in graphic design at the local university. My full-time job is for Connexions Northamptonshire, where I am responsible for the design and development of all their websites and intranet. I also cover all the graphic design work, including magazine adverts, poster campaigns and promotional literature.

Me in Austria

Having always enjoyed art and drawing, and having developed a fascination with the mysterious workings of the worldwide web, I'm one of those fortunate people who love what they do. I am a designer and a front-end coder - designing using my sketchbook, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Fireworks, and coding using Dreamweaver.

Other than design, I'm interested in music, movies, computers and computer gaming (both PC and Nintendo Wii), and learning about all things web. I'm a keen traveller, leaving the shores of England as often as possible to explore the big wide world outside. Most recently, I went to Austria with my wonderful girlfriend, Yvonne, where we got engaged.

Just over one month later, we got married in Gretna. It was a small ceremony with just ourselves and our parents, having celebrated with friends and other family members a few weeks earlier.

We are now also expecting our first child which is due in May of this year. Needless to say, we're both very happy and excited!

I'm also an avid supporter of Liverpool FC - come on the reds! YNWA. IRWT.

About this site

This website, TimKeay.com, is my own site for my one-man design business, Tim Keay Design. Here I can explore more exciting freelance work, outside my normal 9-to-5 job. It also allows me to showcase some of the work I'm doing at college, as well as being able to keep a blog of all my miscellaneous ramblings.

My very first site was a fansite dedicated to The White Stripes, one of my favourite bands. I was interested in learning about web design, so began small with the fansite. It only featured a few photos, as well as some general comments and reviews about them, their music, and a few live shows I was fortunate to see. Over time, this evolved (well...more "mutated") into a more general site about things I liked, mostly related to music.

It wasn't until after a year or so that I designed my first site for someone else. These began as tables-based site, with limited proper CSS, and certainly didn't validate as standards-compliant HTML. Once I'd explored the world of web design further, I started to get more creative with my websites, as well as becoming obsessed with making them both pixel-perfect (as much as IE6 would allow, anyway!) and fully XHTML/CSS standards-compliant.

Hello, my name is Tim Keay and I'm a graphic designer from Northampton, UK.
I'm interested in all forms of design, computer gaming and learning about the web. I love designing for both print and the web, and specialise in making the internet prettier. Feel free to say hello.
